We firmly believe that the Internet should be available and accessible to everyone. We are committed to providing touchpoints that are accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of circumstances and abilities.
To this end, Conserve Italia partners with AccessiWay, a specialized provider of digital accessibility solutions, to align as closely as possible with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
These guidelines outline how to make web content accessible to people with a wide range of needs, including individuals who are blind or have low vision, and those with motor, cognitive, neurological, or sensory disabilities.
By adhering to the WCAG and leveraging the technical support of AccessiWay, we strive to ensure that our website can be used by the largest possible number of people, in accordance with principles of inclusivity and applicable regulations.
FEEDBACKDespite our ongoing efforts to make our website adaptable to everyone’s needs, there may still be pages or sections that are not fully accessible, are in the process of becoming accessible, or for which an adequate technological solution is not yet available.
We remain committed to continuously improving our accessibility by adding, updating, and enhancing features and functionalities, as well as developing and adopting new technologies.
Our goal is to achieve optimal accessibility in line with technological advancements.

Customisation via our accessibility widget
The accessibility widget provided by AccessiWay is a tool designed to enhance the website’s accessibility, making it more user-friendly and compatible with major assistive technologies.
Through customizable features, it supports inclusive navigation for users with visual, motor, cognitive, and neurological disabilities, in compliance with local and European accessibility regulations.
The widget is accessible:
-
via keyboard at the beginning of the page (press Tab)
-
or with the mouse, in a fixed position at the bottom left

Through customizable features, it supports inclusive navigation for users with visual, motor, cognitive, and neurological disabilities, in line with Italian and European regulations.
Screen Reader Optimization:
We run a process that learns the website's components from top to bottom, to ensure constant compliance even as the website is updated. In this process, we provide meaningful data to screen readers using the ARIA attribute set. For example, we provide accurate form labels; descriptions for actionable icons (social media icons, search icons, shopping cart icons, etc.); validation instructions for form inputs; element roles such as buttons, menus, modal (popup) dialogs, and others.
Furthermore, the background process scans all website images. It provides an accurate and meaningful description based on image object recognition as ALT tags (alternative text) for undescribed images. It also extracts embedded text within the image using OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology. To turn on screen reader adjustments at any point, users simply need to press the Alt+1 keyboard combination. Users who use screen readers also receive automatic announcements to turn on the screen reader mode as soon as they enter the website.
These adjustments are compatible with popular screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack.
Keyboard Navigation Optimization:
The background process also adjusts the website's HTML code and adds various behaviors using JavaScript code to make the website usable by keyboard. This includes the ability to navigate the website using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys, to use dropdown menus with the arrow keys, to close them with Esc, to trigger buttons and links with the Enter key, to navigate between radio elements and checkboxes with the arrow keys, and to fill them in with the Spacebar or Enter key.
In addition, keyboard users will find content skip menus available at any time by pressing Alt+2 or as the first element of the site during keyboard navigation. The background process also handles activated popups by moving the keyboard focus to them as soon as they appear, preventing them from moving outside.
Users can also use shortcuts like "M" (menus), "H" (headings), "F" (forms), "B" (buttons), and "G" (graphics) to jump to specific elements.
Additional User Interface, Design, and Readability Modifications
-
Font Adjustments – users can increase and decrease their size, change their family (type), adjust spacing, alignment, line height, and more.
-
Color Adjustments – users can select various color contrast profiles, such as light, dark, inverted, and monochrome. Additionally, users can change the color schemes of titles, texts, and backgrounds with over seven different coloring options.
-
Animations – epileptic users can stop all running animations with the click of a button. Animations controlled by the interface include videos, GIFs, and blinking CSS transitions.
-
Content Highlighting – users can choose to emphasize essential elements like links and titles. They can also choose to highlight only focused or hovered elements.
-
Mute Audio – users with hearing aids may experience headaches or other issues due to auto-playing audio. This option allows users to instantly mute the entire website's audio.
-
Cognitive Disabilities – we use a search engine linked to Wikipedia and Wiktionary, allowing people with cognitive disabilities to decipher the meaning of phrases, initials, slang, and more.
-
Additional Functions – we allow users to change the cursor color and size, use a print mode, enable a virtual keyboard, and many other functions.
Assistive Technologies and Browser Compatibility
We aim to support as many browsers and assistive technologies as possible, so our users can choose the best tools for them, with the fewest limitations possible. Therefore, we have worked hard to be able to support all major systems that account for over 95% of the user market share, including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera, and Microsoft Edge, as well as JAWS and NVDA (screen readers), for both Windows and MAC users.
