| Peas are an extremely delicate product that demand soft technologies in order to harvest it ready for processing. Expert staff are trained by Conserve Italia to use special combine harvesters (owned by the Group) that collect and pod directly in the field. Conserve Italia can therefore guarantee a product of the highest quality. The varieties selected have special characteristics, they are resistant to disease and are cultivated naturally. | 
| The peas are matured to different levels in order to obtain, petit pois and garden peas. When the peas reach the plants a sample is selected, analysed and graded for its quality and size. From these tests the processing cycle is determined (extra-fine, fine and average) that correspond to various uses and consumer tastes. |
The first processing operation is to mechanically grade or reject any peas that do not meet the high standards required. The product is then washed in running water and a final quality check is made manually by expert staff. Blanching in hot water or steaming precedes the packing of the product into tins or glass containers. Everything is done to maintain the characteristics of the original product in a completely natural way. |

| The steamed peas and borlotti beans are part of the Valfrutta brand's steam cooked range “Cotti al vapore”. This process makes the products much more convenient and come in single serve tins free of brine. | |
