Conserve Italia is the biggest Italian producer of string beans in tins which are exclusively produced fresh. The green bean is a delicate product and when harvested extra care is needed. All the fresh harvested produce is highly perishable, therefore it needs to be graded in the space of a few hours, to prevent the risk of fermentation. 
| Once the green beans are harvested they are immediately transported to the plant and processed with 24 hours, according to Conserve Italia’s Quality Assurance system. The green beans are sampled, optically graded to remove unwanted produce, trimmed and topped, washed and blanched and then packaged in cans or glass jars before sterilisation. This process which is performed within a day of harvesting enables consumers to have a product next to fresh.
